Glorious Times proudly announces that the first ever east coast
tour of thrash/crossover legends WEHRMACHT will take place
in August of 2013
Formed in Portland in 1985 Wehrmacht quickly gained a large
underground following and were soon signed to New Renaissance
Records. Their debut "Shark Attack" is widely considered a
landmark album which still continues to influence bands some 26
years later. They shared the stage on the west coast with other
innovators like Cryptic Slaughter, The Accused, Possessed and
Slayer. A followup ("Biermacht") was released on New
Renaissance, but still they played only on the west coast despite a
fast growing fan base. Despite achieving world wide acclaim in the
underground the band soon broke up and its members continued
on in various other music projects.
Toward the end of 2008 the former members of Wehrmacht
started getting the itch to play together again and began having
discussions about the possibility of a reunion. Quietly, the band
reformed and began again playing shows in their hometown of
Portland, OR. Soon after the reunion FOAD Records (Italy)
approached the band to reissue their 2 classic albums with bonus
materials. To support the reissues FOAD brought the band to a
sold-out tour in Europe in 2010. The band returned home from
Europe and continued to sporadically play shows in their
hometown. 2011 saw the band play at Mexico's legendary Hell &
Heaven Fest. In 2012 Wehrmacht gained some newly found vigor
and began to write new material and play shows with a greater
frequency. Late 2012 saw them share the stage with Napalm
Death. This performance would have Mitch and Barney from
Napalm Death join Wehrmacht on stage for the classic "Night of
Pain". As 2012 grew to an end the band made plans for their first
trip to California in 25 years. The highlight of their tour was a
sold-out crowd at Hollywood's Key Club at which Scott Peterson
(Cryptic Slaughter) joined the band on stage for a rendition of the
Cryptic Slaughter classic "Money Talks".
Back in Portland after a successful tour the band had the itch
to play more shows outside of Oregon and were soon planning
shows in Washington state. They also had talks of a return trip to
Europe and possibly Mexico. This period also brought about talks
of coming east for the first time. A few brief discussions were held
with Glorious Times about a possible east coast mini-tour and
within a short period 6 cities were chosen to host the band on this
momentous outing.
